Please note: This role is part time (30 hours per week) term-time only , with an additional two weeks worked at the end of August for the annual deep clean. The successful candidate will also be required to support cleaning during Holiday Club periods (approximately 16-20 days per year) on reduced hours.

St. Andrew's School is an independent school in the heart of Rochester, educating children from Pre-School through to Year 6. Set across four beautiful Victorian buildings, our site is full of character and no two days are ever the same.

We are looking for an organised and motivated Domestic Supervisor to lead our Domestic Assistants and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained across our Main School and Pre-School. This is an important role within our support team, helping to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment in which pupils can learn and staff can work.

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of the school's cleaning operation, coordinating rotas and workloads, monitoring standards, overseeing cleaning supplies and ensuring health and safety and COSHH requirements are met. The Domestic Supervisor will have a proactive leadership role providing day to day supervision and support to the domestic team.

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in keeping the school clean, safe and operating smoothly by:

  • Leading and supporting the Domestic Assistants, including organising daily workloads and cleaning schedules.
  • Monitoring cleaning standards across the Main School and Pre-School and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Managing cleaning rotas to meet the needs of the School, including events, Holiday Club and the summer deep clean.
  • Monitoring cleaning stock levels, placing orders and working with suppliers to achieve value for money.
  • Managing COSHH arrangements for the Cleaning Team, including registers, risk assessments and monthly checks.
  • Ensuring equipment and cleaning products are used safely and that the team remain up to date with relevant training and compliance requirements.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of commercial cleaning requirements and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Has proven experience in a similar role and environment; experience within a school would be an advantage.
  • Is organised, self-motivated and able to meet deadlines while managing a varied workload.
  • Has a flexible approach, good problem-solving skills and can respond positively to changing priorities.
  • Is friendly, approachable and an effective communicator who works well as part of a team.
  • Can confidently supervise and motivate a small team; previous team management experience is desirable.
  • Understands the importance of health & safety and COSHH. Relevant training can be provided to the successful candidate where required.
