Education Development Trust (edt) are looking for a Communications and Advocacy Officer who will will lead the development and implementation of communication, visibility and advocacy strategies for a new education and skills programme in Ethiopia. The programme will strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure the successful transition of secondary students to tertiary education or the world of work by equipping them with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude through enhanced implementation of the competency-based curriculum.
The purpose of the role is to work with consortium partners to ensure consistent, coherent messaging, strong public engagement and effective advocacy across all stakeholders. You will produce high-quality content, manage internal and external communications, strengthen media and stakeholder relations, and lead advocacy initiatives. You will work closely with the Programme Manager, Project Management Unit (PMU) Communications Adviser and downstream partners to ensure the timely dissemination of key messages, promote policy dialogue and influence change in support of education outcomes. Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Strong understanding of digital communication tools, platforms and trends.
Essential Experience

Significant experience in strategic communications, media engagement,and public relations.

Proven experience leading digital communication strategies and managing organisational branding.

Experience working on donor-funded programmes and within the international development sector.

Advocacy communications and policy-influencing experience, ideally connected to education.

Demonstrated ability to build and manage media relationships.

Strong track record in content creation across multiple platforms.

Understanding of branding principles and best practices.
