About the role

Education Development Trust are looking for a Programme Officer to support the mobilisation and implementation of a new education and skills programme in Ethiopia.  The programme will strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure the successful transition of secondary students to tertiary education or the world of work by equipping them with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude through enhanced implementation of the skill-based curriculum. Ideally you will be available for some days of pre-mobilisation activities from April before full mobilisation starts.

The Programme Officer will be responsible for: 
  • Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, with the flexibility to adapt processes as needed to meet specific business requirements.
  • Mobilization Support: Support the mobilisation activities, working closely with the team to ensure all aspects of mobilisation are covered to meet quality, legislative, and compliance standards.
  • Financial Management: Work with relevant colleagues to ensure financial procedures and budgets are in place, and track reporting requirements to meet financial goals.
  • Process Management: Establish and maintain project management, administrative, and quality assurance processes to ensure the project runs efficiently and meets internal and external requirements.
  • Supplier & Partner Coordination: Work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure that deliverables meet business objectives, contractual requirements, and quality standards within agreed timelines.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify and manage risks and issues, taking appropriate action to resolve them and ensuring project success.
Key Qualifications 
  • Proven experience in project mobilisation and management, ideally in the education or skills sector
  • Experience in managing complex, large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders, including international teams and external partners.
  • Financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and ensuring financial compliance with project requirements.
