Job Type: 6 month fixed term contract

An exciting short-term opportunity has opened up in EDT’s Research and Development team for a senior edtech professional with experience in strategy and business development. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to develop an organisation-wide strategy for a leading and established education organization with a track record for delivering high impact large scale education programmes in Africa, Middle East and UK.  

In this role you will work consultatively across the organization to define EDT’s strategy and competitive positioning for edtech for teacher professional development, along with an articulated market offer, distilling key messages and USPs. You will also distil and define our digital learning design principles and models linked to our Teacher Development and Leadership for Learning propositions. 

We welcome applications from individuals with the following experience and skills:  

Track record in strategy and policy development for edtech, with ability to adapt approaches to changing market insights and opportunities. 

Understanding of and expertise in edtech internationally, including the latest market trends, policy developments and contextual considerations in both high and low income countries. 

Understanding of the role of edtech in achieving educational impact, including a consideration of both successes and failures as well as key issues and challenges. 

Strong knowledge of business development, marketing and financial with experience in managing a portfolio of projects or a complex programme. 

Experience in educational digital product design and development, including working with both educational and technology teams, and applying insights-driven iterative development approaches to ensure positive user experience as well as educational impact.  

Strong stakeholder management skills, with ability to work across the business with senior leaders and experts to co-ordinate a whole business approach and ensure buy-in.

EDT is a highly evidence-engaged organisation, offering our clients education solutions informed by leading edge thinking and research insights. As a charity, we reinvest our surplus in a programme of education research, available through our website. The R&D team plays a key part in ensuring EDT has evidence-informed education solutions which deliver education impact at scale, and is responsible for deriving and bringing to market new propositions and innovative methods across our international markets. 

The role is a 6 month fixed-term contract, ideally running from November 2022 to April 2023, and preferably based either in our UK (Reading), Kenya (Nairobi) or UAE (Dubai) offices with options for hybrid working. The role will require travel within Africa, Middle East and UK to engage with programme teams. For the right candidate, we may be able to consider a remote position in another location that is in a similar time zone and is accessible for travel.
